Obligatory Introductory Post

Hello!

Welcome to I Want What She's Smoking, the cannabis review blog from a stoner's mind. Currently, I'm waiting for a sativa edible to sink in, so this is the perfect time to get into the zone regarding actually starting the blog that I promised myself I would make.

This blog purports to review various cannabis products, specifically flower, from the state of someone who is experiencing the effects of the product, a cannabis review from the mind of a stoner; what thoughts, feelings, and physical experiences that come with each product. Now, I'm just one individual and the way some cannabis products effect my psychological and physical state are somewhat unique and may not adequately portray others' experiences, so I encourage any reader to comment their experiences as to obtain the complete picture of a cannabis product.

I plan to organize my posts based on the following formula:

  • Basic product information
  • Qualities
  • Consumption
  • Context
  • Experience
I plan on writing some general past experiences to which I think provide a unique perspective as well. Now that the introduction is kind of out of the way, time for the more personal stuff. Who exactly is this stoner writing this blog?

Well, I'm planning on remaining anonymous due to how others may view my personal experiences with marijuana and cannabis products (i.e. stubborn family, potential employers, etc.), but just because I won't be sharing my face or my name, doesn't mean I can't still be myself on here!

So, let's preface, I'm a cisgender woman who lives in Chicago, IL., USA, with my partner and our opinionated black cat. I'm a mental health professional and have recently graduated with my master's, so if you get bored with my writing, I'm still trying to get back to writing like a human and not a robot.

I first started smoking not too long ago, in actuality, my partner introduced me to marijuana maybe 7-8 months after we started dating, so if I remember correctly around the beginning of 2019? I had inhibitions with substances due to my upbringing. Although my folks are hardcore '80s kids, they didn't experiment with substances other than alcohol.

My mom is very risk averse and hasn't even tried smoking a cigarette, even in her teens because, "I couldn't light it because I was afraid of burning myself on the lighter." So she stuck with alcohol, no risk of burns and no risk of doing it wrong. My dad, similarly risk averse, but a tad less than my mom, was your all-American 80's feathered haired kid who played sports and was seen as "the shy" one in his friend group. His friends used to dabble in doobies, but he told me, "They gave me a headache and I was more interested in girls than drugs."

Growing up with these two goofballs, as an only child nonetheless, really sheltered me of the world of experimentation, with a good chunk of my experimentation being after I graduated high school and moved out of my parents' house. That, and I have a family history of substance dependency/addiction, specifically alcohol, and that scared me shitless as as kid, so much so that at one point I vowed never to drink. Although, when you get to college and befriend a group of kids at your Lutheran Church, you're bound to have a few ragers.

So here I am, a mid-20s woman living in the Midwest posting her experiences with cannabis on the internet because what else is there to do when you're entire planet is living with a pandemic?

I think that's enough for now, I'm starting the feel the edible and I have some other things I want to write. So a last-second comprehensive list of qualities/personal information that you'll probably find obvious or necessary for your reading experience, but maybe it'll show in my writing and give you some information about what influences my experiences with cannabis.

*Cisgender Woman, Lutheran (Christian), Feminist, Human-rights activist, Loyal, Challenging, Stubborn, Passionate, Hufflepuff, Progressive, Bicurious, Committed partner, friend, and family member. And I can live off cheese, chocolate, coffee, weed, tomatoes and pasta (nothing special, but important).

So stick around and make sure to comment your own experiences!

Pre '98 Bubba Kush and Self-Acceptance

Hello! Starting off, we have Pre '98 Bubba Kush.  *A lot of my information about general reported qualities comes from this  website *     I tried this strain before and it's a classic. Pre '98 Bubba Kush is an Indica, meaning it's more of a body high. It was comprised of 0.27% THC, 10.95% THCA, 0.28% CBD, and 13.94% CBDA. For those who are kind of new to the marijuana world, THC has the high properties to it, and CBD has the physical relaxation/pain relieving properties.  The reported qualities that this strain has are as follows, according to Leafly: consistent heavy body sensation, pain relief, pungent, musky scent, and coffee-like taste. Feelings: Relaxed, Happy, Sleeping, Euphoric, and Hungry Helps with: Pain, Stress, Insomnia, Anxiety, and Depression Negatives: Dry Mouth, Dry eyes, Dizzy, Headaches, Paranoia     We smoked it out of a 4 percolator bong with a MouthPeace filter, while hotboxing SO's office. He wanted to show...

Smoking, Science, and Spirituality

Hello!      Since I've been puffing pot, I've had instances where my high self is overwhelmed with curiosity. When you're high, your thoughts seem very insightful and deep, even though they rarely are insightful and deep. You wonder about things in the world and your brain makes some connections that feel new and intriguing!     One of these instances had an unexpected impact on me. The first instance of this new hobby came in the Summer of 2019. My partner, SO, and I were trying out a trial run at living together. He had a Summer lease in his school-owned apartment and I had my apartment near my university, but worked in the town he was located so I stayed with him. We had been dating an hour away for the majority of our relationship and were, for a lack of a better term, testing our relationship and compatibility. We decided to use the Summer as a trial run for living together. With both of us taking Summer classes and working, our Summer was pretty busy, but ...
